I found 2400Penn online while living in Chicago and I did not have the chance to visit the building in person prior to moving over. I hope this review helps those who were in my situation since there does not seem to be many reviews online. Overall, I had a good experience living at 2400Penn. It definitely met my expectations.
Pros:
-the apartment is well managed and I never felt lied to, esp. considering I applied for the apartment 1000 miles away. All my questions about the amenities/cost were answered honestly and there was no nasty "surprises" when I finally moved in.
-the location is amazing and the best thing about 2400Penn, I don't have a car (parking is pricey) but I never felt the need for one. I walk 10 minutes to work and 5 minutes to Trader Joe. Both Foggy Bottom and Dupont Metro are very close by. You can take afternoon walks by the Potomac River, White House and so on.
-2400Penn is one of the cheapest apartments in the area. I got a one month off deal when I moved in so that was definitely a plus. The amenities are dated and nothing fancy but usable. The paint job in my apt looks sloppy and my kitchen was not updated. Still for the price, I can't complain.
-2400Penn is pretty clean. There are trash disposals on every floor and there has not been any bugs/rodents in my apartment (I do clean often).
-the staff is very friendly and my maintenance requests are fulfilled quickly, no complaints there.
Cons:
- My biggest complaint - noise. There are quite a few GW students (esp. undergrads) in the building. I have some noisy neighbors that play music loudly and the smell of weed occasionally drift through my bathroom vent. In addition, GW Hospital emergency room neighbors 2400Penn. Even though I live on the 7th floor, I can still hear the sirens go by. So light sleepers beware!
-If you work 9 to 5, you probably have to wait for Saturday to pick up your packages since there's no 24 hour front desk service.
